Holistic Vet Norfolk is led by Dr Shelagh Pitt (veterinary surgeon; described on the website as having 25+ years in practice) and focuses on a holistic, individualised approach for dogs and cats. Based on the website and reviews, the clinic is set up particularly for calm, home-based support—most often mentioned is peaceful in-home euthanasia, including short-notice visits and keeping pets in familiar places (in a bed, garden, or in an owner’s arms). Reviews also describe holistic consultations where pets are offered a choice of pre-selected herbs and cat-safe essential oils, with owners continuing the selected remedies at home; acupuncture for joint pain is also mentioned as something an owner planned to arrange.

Thank you so much for bringing such calm and serenity in to our home while we were all feeling heartbroken. Shelagh made our beautiful boys passing over the rainbow bridge into a peaceful and loving experience. We all feel truly blessed to have had Shelagh in our home at such a sad time. X

Shelagh is a skilled, knowledgeable, intuitive and thorough holistic vet. It was quite incredible to see how respectfully and gently she worked with my cat, giving him full agency, by letting him refine her expert choices of various herbs and oils that she had carefully pre-selected for him, based on her understanding of his case and of the herbs. Fascinatingly, he was really interested in some (delightedly eating seconds of one powdered herb Shelagh offered to him as a paste in water) and was less interested in others. He really did choose what he wanted - and I reckon that he absolutely knew what he needed, and what would be good for his body. When offered (from a respectful distance) the aromas of various cat-safe essential oils, it was so interesting to watch how he seemed to enjoy some, and be less bothered about others. Shelagh left us with a range of his chosen herbs and oils, so we can continue to offer them to him. A brilliant experience, and greatly recommended as a gentle and truly holistic complement to conventional veterinary care. I'd recommend Shelagh's service if you have an animal companion needing some physical or emotional/behavioural help, and I'm hoping to arrange further sessions for other aspect's of my cat's case, including acupuncture for his joint pain. Thank you, Shelagh!

Dr Shelagh, came to my home - with very short notice - to put my 20 year old, much loved, cat to sleep. Although a difficult decision, Shelagh navigated us through it and Duke passed very peacefully in his own bed. This was by far the best end of life experience I have had for any of my pets and I would highly recommend the service.

Shelagh’s incredible care, empathy and expertise created a respectful and beautiful way to let our beloved cat Beans go. It was a hard decision but Shelagh knew him and could therefore help me find the strength to know I was making the right one. We held him in our arms the whole time. I am so deeply grateful for Shelagh and the at home euthanasia service so Beans never had to leave his garden and could pass away peacefully.

Shelaugh was very kind and compassionate and made a terrible moment a tiny bit easier. We had her her come to our house to help us on the day we never wanted to come. It was so peaceful. Our beloved Casey died on my arms, in his favourite bed in his favourite room. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Holistic Vet.

Vet Shelagh took a thorough history of my dog’s behaviour and health issues. During our wide ranging discussion she provided me with support and helped me understand what is happening to my much loved 13yr old girl. Shelagh looks at the ‘whole’ situation and not just one issue, she truly is a holistic vet. If you are looking for a different approach from a very experienced vet I can recommend Shelagh to you

We knew the day had come for our little Vinnie, and the heartbreaking decision had been made. It was so important to us that he could spend his final moments in the comfort of his own home, feeling calm and surrounded by the people who loved him most. With Shelagh, we had all of that — and so much more. Shelagh is professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly caring — everything you could hope for during such a difficult time. It brings us comfort to know that Vinnie enjoyed a long and happy life, and that his final moments were peaceful and full of love. We would highly recommend Shelagh to anyone looking for someone who truly understands, cares deeply, and offers nothing but support on such a sad day. Thank you, Shelagh, for everything. On the 6th August I had to make the most difficult decision of my life to have my baby dog Bug go to sleep forever. I wanted this to happen at home and Shelagh, Helen & Lorraine were absolutely amazing with their knowledge and kind words. Shelagh came to my home, made Bug nice and calm, nothing was rushed and supported me and Bug. This service is absolutely amazing as my baby boy passed away in his home, lying on my legs and on his favourite bed. I would highly recommend this service to anyone who has a pet, the compassion and caring nature of everyone is outstanding. Thankyou Shelagh you are truly an amazing lady. Shelagh also took some paw prints for me so I have a special reminder of my baby boy Bug. Thankyou Cheryl M.

Even though I am a fellow holistic vet, I am not trained in using essential oils with animals. In fact, I understood them to be potent and many to be toxic so had not considered them really at all. Shelagh however suggested that they may be useful in helping to support my cat who has various chronic health issues. As Shelagh is a highly trained holistic vet who has undertaken specific training in working with essential oils I opted to have a consult with her. I was fascinated by my cats reaction to the different oils and have been using them every other day since we spoke, with my cat actively seeking them out! So far I have noticed she is more settled and affectionate. I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress.

Shelagh is professional, friendly, extremely knowledgable and has transformed all of our lives for the better. Her approach is gentle and she has really built trust with both my dogs. My beagle hated going to the vets and would tremble in fear before we’d even got out the car, yet when we go to Shelagh he cannot wait to get out and is crying with excitement. I never thought I would say that Shiloh would be excited to see the vet but he genuinely loves going, it’s fantastic to see! Shelagh has a Fountain of knowledge, She has really opened my eyes up and helped me to be a better dog owner. My dogs seem the happiest and the healthiest they’ve ever been and they are 12 and 9 years old. my only wish is that I knew she Shelagh 12 years ago when I acquired my first dog but I have no doubt her input has extended their life and has definitely increased their happiness. I cannot recommend and thank Shelagh enough! I am so grateful for all her help and would recommend anyone who’s just thinking about going, to definitely make an appointment, you and your pet will not be disappointed.
