Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership is a long-established, five-branch practice (over 100 years, per its website) that offers routine appointments as well as faster-turnaround care when something is urgent (for example, one reviewer says their dog was seen immediately after an attack). Clinic data also lists emergency veterinary services and that it’s a veterinary nurse training facility. Recent reviews frequently mention being seen quickly and that vets handle anxious cats gently, but there are also recurring concerns about cost transparency—particularly around medication pricing and itemised bills—and one report of serious admin/consent issues related to the Pet Health Club.

Overall, most of the vets I encountered were good, but unfortunately they tend not to discuss the prices of medication. At the previous surgery I used to go to with my dog, I was always asked which option I preferred: getting a prescription and buying the medicine elsewhere for a lower price, or buying it directly from them for a higher price. We would usually check prices and calculate the difference. Here, I was given eye drops for £35 that actually cost less than £10 without any prescription. One vet was in a rush and didn’t ask me about or explain the available options. Another vet I saw later also simply suggested adding the drops to the bill. The first time, I didn’t double-check and went ahead with it — I know that’s partly on me — but I’m used to being informed about prices. Vet surgeries in the UK are extremely expensive, so I’m also used to vets being mindful of costs and trying not to overcharge clients. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that experience here with some vets. I should say that the first vet I saw for a different issue was wonderful and very considerate of costs, but I was disappointed with some of the other visits.

Never cheap visiting the vets over Christmas but the team at Chapelfield were brilliant. Seen quickly, issue sorted and a worrying Christmas avoided thanks to their care.

A lovely receptionist here is a good start. The vets and nurses are all very professional, kind and treat you and your pets with love and kindness. Just ask if you want to know anything and they will happily help.

I’ll start this review by saying the vet we saw was very helpful and made our very anxious cat feel as comfortable and assured as he could in the appointment. However I’m leaving 2 stars because of the treatment we received at the reception following said appointment. Our bill came to a staggering amount considering we were leaving with one painkiller and asked the receptionist to detail what the bill was for exactly, (we thought maybe they had accidentally added the fee for an upcoming test, when the vet had said we wouldn’t have to pay for this until the sample was dropped off) to which she sharply snapped at us with dismissal saying it WAS correct, before pushing the card reader towards us- and this is the part I felt was grossly unprofessional and offensive- “you’ll have to stay in tonight.” She took our shock and unease about the over inflated bill we had just received and threw it back in our face with judgement and jest. I am writing this review in hope that it gets back to that receptionist so she thinks twice before making further cutting throw away comments like the one we received without knowing that persons circumstances or hardships they may be facing.

I had a serious issue with the Pet Health Club at Chapelfield Veterinary Partnership. Two plans were reinstated and an additional plan added under my name without my consent, even though I had previously terminated my subscription. I was later pursued by collections for charges I never agreed to. The clinic needs better accountability, record keeping and consent based processes--it's concerning that accounts can be created or signed under someone elses name. If you’re considering the Pet Health Club, double check that your information is correctly recorded.

They're lovely here and getting appointments has always been very quick and easy. Even once when my dog was attacked, they saw him immediately. Their love of animals is clearly evident.
